The Haven is a registered charity which provides support to people affected by a range of life limiting illness and to their family members and carers. The Haven offers a programme of support designed to help individuals cope with the physical, emotional and practical aspects of their illness and provides support for people at all stages, from the point of diagnosis onwards, and is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the individual. The charity operates as a drop in centre with no need for medical referral and all services are provided free of charge. There are three centres across Lanarkshire located in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth. I work as part of The Haven multidisciplinary team to offer this programme of support and to enable our clients to face the future positively and with hope.
Fundraising events like the Kiltwalk are vital to helping The Haven sustain these services. This will be my fourth Kiltwalk for The Haven and I look forward to completing the Glasgow Kiltwalk on Sunday 28th April. The money raised will allow us to continue supporting our families affected by life limiting illness here in Lanarkshire. The Kiltwalk itself is a joy to do, there is a great atmosphere, everyone is friendly and you get a great sense of achievement when you have completed the walk. Any sponsorship would be very much appreciated
